Our story
Our founder, Megan Sullins, knows what it means to start with very little and work tirelessly to build a future. Growing up facing challenges, then later becoming a young mother, Megan carried with her a deep understanding of resilience, family, and the power of having someone believe in you. These experiences shaped her heart and ignited her passion for creating opportunities for individuals who are often overlooked.
Megan’s journey into the world of IDD services was also rooted in family. Her parents opened their home as foster parents, instilling in her a natural instinct for caregiving and advocacy. Over the years, her husband, children, and even her extended family became part of this calling, making Compassion Care Services not just a company, but a family mission.
From its earliest days, Compassion Care Services was designed to stand out. Megan wanted to create more than just “services”—she wanted to build a community where clients thrive, families feel supported, and staff feel valued. That vision has blossomed into programs that include Alternative Family Living (AFL) homes, Adult Day Programs, In-Home Skill Building, Supported Employment, Respite Care, and more.

What makes us different
Compassion Care Services LLC stands out from other disability support services because we combine lived experience, family values, and professional excellence into every aspect of our care.
Unlike larger agencies that may operate on a “one-size-fits-all” model, we prioritize person-centered planning that reflects each individual’s strengths, interests, and goals. Our leadership team and providers bring not only formal training in NC regulatory requirements (27G, 1915(i), Innovations Waiver guidelines), but also personal experience in caregiving, fostering, and family support.
We focus on independence, dignity, and inclusion—not just meeting basic needs. We build long-term relationships with families, treating each client as part of our extended family. We offer a broad range of services—from AFL and respite to supported employment and community networking—so that individuals can grow with us over time instead of being passed between providers. We emphasize ongoing staff training and mentorship to ensure our DSPs and AFL providers feel empowered, supported, and equipped to deliver the highest quality of care.

Our impact
The impact we hope to make goes far beyond services. We want our members to feel seen, valued, and capable of reaching their fullest potential. Whether that’s gaining more independence at home, finding meaningful work, or simply building confidence and friendships, we’re here to walk alongside them every step of the way.
For our local community in Western North Carolina, our dream is to create a culture of inclusion and opportunity—where individuals with disabilities aren’t just supported, but celebrated. By partnering with local businesses, schools, and organizations, we hope to open doors that help our clients shine and, in turn, make our community stronger, kinder, and more connected.
