About us

At Compassion Care Services LLC, we believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard and supported with dignity.  Our mission is simple: to bring guidance, positivity, and care to people of all abilities, helping them live fulfilling and independent lives.

We specialize in supporting individuals with disabilities, empowering them to thrive in their daily lives, and in their communities.  Whether its assistance with everyday tasks, emotional support, or connecting people to resources, we approach every service with empathy, respect, and compassion at the heart of what we do.

Our care isn't just about meeting needs- it's about nurturing confidence, building relationships, and creating opportunities.  We don't just provide services; we walk alongside each person's journey, celebrating their strengths and honoring their individuality.

COMPASSION. CARE. COMMUNITY

Thats our promise!

Our story

Our founder, Megan Sullins, knows what it means to start with very little and work tirelessly to build a future. Growing up facing challenges, then later becoming a young mother, Megan carried with her a deep understanding of resilience, family, and the power of having someone believe in you. These experiences shaped her heart and ignited her passion for creating opportunities for individuals who are often overlooked.

Megan’s journey into the world of IDD services was also rooted in family. Her parents opened their home as foster parents, instilling in her a natural instinct for caregiving and advocacy. Over the years, her husband, children, and even her extended family became part of this calling, making Compassion Care Services not just a company, but a family mission.

From its earliest days, Compassion Care Services was designed to stand out. Megan wanted to create more than just “services”—she wanted to build a community where members thrive, families feel supported, and staff feel valued. That vision has blossomed into programs that include Alternative Family Living (AFL) homes, Adult Day Programs, In-Home Skill Building, Supported Employment, Respite Care, and more.

What makes us different

Compassion Care Services LLC is built on the belief that exceptional disability support begins with genuine understanding. Our organization blends lived experience, strong family values, and clinical-level professional standards into a model of care that is both deeply personal and highly skilled.

Unlike larger agencies that rely on one-size-fits-all approaches, we deliver truly person-centered services shaped around each individual’s strengths, interests, communication style, and long-term goals. Our leadership team and providers bring not only extensive training in North Carolina regulatory requirements—including 27G, 1915(i), and Innovations Waiver guidelines—but also real-world experience in caregiving, fostering, and family support. This dual perspective allows us to design supports that are practical, respectful, and sustainable for real families.

Compassion Care Services is proud to be both a Certified Autism Center (CAC) and a Down Syndrome Center of Excellence (DSCE). These designations mean that our organization meets rigorous national standards for autism- and Down syndrome-informed care. A significant percentage of our team receives specialized, ongoing training in communication strategies, sensory support, behavioral understanding, inclusive practices, and person-centered engagement. These certifications are not symbolic—they directly strengthen our ability to support individuals with complex needs, adapt services thoughtfully, and respond with skill rather than assumptions.

We focus on independence, dignity, and inclusion—not just meeting basic needs. Through our integrated service model—including Alternative Family Living, respite, day supports, supported employment, and community networking—individuals are able to grow with us over time rather than being passed between providers. This continuity allows for stronger relationships, better outcomes, and services that evolve alongside the individual.

We also place strong emphasis on staff development and support. Our Direct Support Professionals and AFL providers receive ongoing training, mentorship, and leadership guidance so they feel confident, valued, and equipped to provide high-quality care. When our team is supported, the individuals we serve benefit from consistency, stability, and genuine connection.

At Compassion Care Services, we are not simply a provider—we are a long-term partner to individuals, families, and the broader community, committed to building lives filled with opportunity, belonging, and respect.

Our impact

The impact we hope to make goes far beyond services. We want our members to feel seen, valued, and capable of reaching their fullest potential. Whether that’s gaining more independence at home, finding meaningful work, or simply building confidence and friendships, we’re here to walk alongside them every step of the way.

For our local community in Western North Carolina, our dream is to create a culture of inclusion and opportunity—where individuals with disabilities aren’t just supported, but celebrated. By partnering with local businesses, schools, and organizations, we hope to open doors that help our members shine and, in turn, make our community stronger, kinder, and more connected.
